It is getting more common for people to have hair transplant procedures as the methods keep improving. Because of the increase in procedures techniques you can typically not spot as many obvious hair plugs as you used to. Though there have been many improvements in techniques, this does not mean that the public completely understand the procedures. I have severe dandruff and I believe that it has contributed to my hair loss.
Some 50 percent of American men experience a degree of hair loss. There are many options for men who must deal with this type of severe hair loss and one such option is the avenue that many men take - complete shaving of the head. For others, hair transplant surgery is a much more viable alternative. A third option is to acknowledge the hair loss and do nothing about it, however, the people who do this are not keeping up with the rest of the world in this regard.
Many people do not understand the significance or permanence of having a surgical procedure. There are many surgical procedures that are required, and after you are done, your head will not look the same as it did before. This is why you should never accept any doctor’s offer to do a few hair grafts and see how you like it before doing a full hair transplant surgery because once you start, you are committed.
A typical hair transplant surgery is very easy on the patient, but this does not mean that they should immediately jump into their old active lifestyle without rest. The scalp is just as important to take care of as any major or bone after surgery. The numerous amounts of tiny wounds you’ll have after the procedure will need to be protected.
Hair transplant surgery can be a time-consuming commitment: Treatment can often last one to two years. In order to shorten the amount of time required, some patients opt to undergo a mega-session where many thousands of grafts are done in one sitting. The length of these sessions is punishing however, and requires a serious commitment.
Normal treatment is not always available to everyone and some people do not have enough hair to undergo hair transplant surgery. There are other surgeries that can be done at the same time to achieve similar results. The difference is that these procedures are generally more painful.
The grafts may not survive: Few surgeons will divulge to you the fact that hair grafts do not always survive after hair transplant surgery. Surgeon’s hope that more grafts will survive than will be lost, making the result a positive one. In reality, despite all efforts, often grafts simply fail to thrive.
The typical range of payment for hair transplant treatments is around 12,000 dollars. Taking into consideration an average lifespan of a person dying at 70, if they have the procedure done at 30, then they have paid 300 dollars for each of the 40 years they had the surgery, which averages out to 25 dollars per month. Many “low cost” treatments for hair loss cost much more money than per month. The surgery would be the cheaper route in the long run.
